5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; (2 Peter 1:5-6, NIV)
I saw this image and it really hit home for me – accomplishing a goal many times takes small steps. The passage from 2 Peter gives us a recipe. We are reminded that to develop our relationship with God we must add incremental steps, such as self-control and perseverance.
The same can be applied to whatever our long-range goals are. Often, we only focus on the big goal, which can seem daunting, and ignore the victories along the way. If we start measuring our daily victories, the end goal does not seem so out of reach. Small steps, accomplished through self-control and perseverance, are the key to big rewards in life.
Have a great week!
